Meet Alicia
Mother, doctor, cancer survivor. This is my story:
Born and raised in upstate NY with a lifelong dream to become a doctor. I completed a Bachelor of Science at Cornell University with an emphasis in nutrition and human development. I completed medical school at New York Medical College in 2007. My post-graduate training consisted of a residency in pediatric medicine at George Washington University, followed by two fellowships. The first in pediatric hematology and oncology at Children's Hospital at Montefiore followed by a second fellowship in pediatric blood and marrow transplantation at Duke University.

In 2014 I got married and we moved to Los Angeles for my position as an assistant professor of hematology, oncology, blood and marrow transplantation at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl in 2015 and my world turned upside down. Juggling a full time career and a "spirited child" left me exhausted and depressed. After much soul searching I choose to transition back to general pediatrics where I could balance motherhood and work more easily.

After going through this transition and then working with literally thousands of mothers in my new role I realized how many of us were silently suffering through motherhood. In the midst of nurturing everyone else we forget to nuture ourseleves. I vowed that I would work toward helping these mothers find themselves again.
